This was an interesting project.  A landscape architect originally designed a rectangular patio with a large fountain next to the entry walk.  My own personal experience with large fountains is that most people do not take care of them and after a while they are either turned off and left to collect leaves and debris or turned into expensive planters.

We changed the rectangular patio into a flagstone circle ringed with brick. It was then moved out towards the pool entrance to provide additional gathering space for pool parties.  In addition, this is a great neighborhood and this patio encourages neighborly visits, particulary

The drawing on the left is a Black/White version and for some it can be difficult to understand.  The color rendering  on the right very often helps clients better understand the proposal and what the design looks and feels like.  The installed design are the photograhs at the top of the page with some slight modifications.

in the evening when the weather is pleasant.  Patio furniture has been placed since the photos and provision was made for the addition of small water feature in the center of  the patio at a later date.

The following renovation is at a townhome community.  All plants, except the ficus trees, were removed.  What a difference!
